FAQ’s
Frequently Asked Questions
Will having home care mean I lose my independence?
Quite the opposite. Good home care is designed to help you remain as independent as possible while providing support only where it's needed. We encourage you to continue doing the things you enjoy and can safely manage, while we're there to provide a helping hand whenever required.
How do I know if it's the right time to arrange care?
Many people think care is only needed when someone can no longer manage alone, but often a little support early on can make a significant difference. Whether it's help with personal care, preparing meals, companionship or medication, arranging support sooner can help people remain independent in their own home for longer.
Is the initial assessment really free?
Yes. Your home care assessment is completely free and comes with no obligation to proceed.
The assessment gives you the opportunity to ask questions, understand what support is available and receive professional guidance based on your individual circumstances. If you decide you're not ready for care, that's absolutely fine.
Will I have the same Care Professional every visit?
Wherever possible, yes.
We understand how important familiar faces are when inviting someone into your home. We carefully match our customers with Care Professionals who suit their personality, preferences and needs, helping to build trusted relationships over time. Occasionally there may be times when your usual Care Professional is unavailable due to holidays or illness, but we'll always aim to minimise changes and let you know in advance whenever possible.
What happens if my Care Professional is running late?
We understand how important reliability is. If there's ever an unexpected delay, we'll keep you informed and let you know when to expect your Care Professional to arrive.
Our aim is always to provide dependable, punctual support that you can rely on.
Can I choose what support I receive?
Absolutely.
Your care is designed around you—not the other way around. Together we'll agree exactly what support you'd like, how often you would like visits and what you would like our Care Professionals to do during each visit. Your support can also be reviewed and adjusted whenever your needs or preferences change.
Can my family still be involved?
Of course.
We believe the best outcomes come from working together. With your permission, we'll work closely with your family or those important to you, keeping them informed and involving them in care planning whenever appropriate.
What if I only need a little bit of help?
That's perfectly fine.
Many of our customers simply need support with one or two daily tasks, such as preparing meals, collecting prescriptions or companionship. Others require more comprehensive assistance. Every package of support is personalised to your individual needs.
Will I be able to stay in my own home?
In many cases, yes.
One of the main aims of domiciliary care is to help people continue living safely, comfortably and independently in the place they know and love. Our support is designed to help you maintain your routines, remain connected to your community and continue enjoying life at home for as long as it is safe and appropriate to do so.
What if my needs change over time?
As your circumstances change, your support can change too.
We regularly review your Care Plan with you and your family (where appropriate) to make sure it continues to reflect your wishes, goals and individual needs.
How are your Care Professionals recruited?
We understand that inviting someone into your home requires trust.
Our Care Professionals are carefully recruited through a robust selection process, including enhanced DBS checks, employment references and comprehensive training before providing support. They also receive ongoing supervision and professional development to maintain the highest standards of care.
Can I stop or change my care?
Yes.
Life changes, and your support should be flexible too. Whether you'd like to increase visits, reduce them or stop your service altogether, we'll work with you to ensure any changes are managed smoothly and with as little disruption as possible.
How long are your visits?
We believe quality care should never feel rushed.
We'll work with you during your assessment to agree visit lengths that reflect your individual needs and the support you've requested, ensuring there's enough time to provide meaningful, person-centred care.
What makes home care different from moving into a care home?
Home care allows you to remain in familiar surroundings, close to family, friends, neighbours and the community you know. You can continue living life on your own terms while receiving personalised support that fits around your routines rather than changing them.
For many people, this provides greater comfort, confidence and independence while still receiving the assistance they need.
I'm not sure I need care yet. Can I still speak to someone?
Absolutely.
Many families contact us simply to ask questions or understand what options are available for the future. We're always happy to offer friendly advice, explain how home care works and help you make an informed decision—without any pressure or obligation to proceed.
